The people who receive the corn are the poorest
of
the poor, particularly those in third-world countries whose diet
includes
corn as a staple. It is in these areas that high lysine corn is
welcomed.
These may be victims of a natural disaster, such as earthquakes or
floods,
or a politically produced disaster such as war and deprivation. These
may
be people who are subsisting with almost nothing and no appreciable
resources
for food; in some extreme cases their diet may only consist of roots
and
insects.

Children" administrator in San Salvador, El Salvador, Central America:
